HOW WE HELP

We can help if:

  • you are experiencing domestic and family violence, including help with Family Violence Orders
  • you are thinking about separating or have separated and need to make arrangements for children
  • you or child protection are worried about the safety of your children or children in your care
  • you need to divide property fairly after separation
  • you need help to apply for assistance as a victim of crime
  • you have been treated unfairly at work
  • you have been treated unfairly by services and institutions because of your race, gender, pregnancy, family or caring responsibilities, ability, age, gender identity or sexual orientation

We can help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who live in Canberra and nearby. We can also help women who have First Nations Children.

We can help you if you are an aunty, grandmother or have other Kinship connections with children.

How we work with you

Call the Women’s Legal Centre on 02 6257 4377 and ask to speak with the Mulleun Mura team.

We will yarn with you about what you need. We work together with you, so you get the right help for your situation. This might be through:

  • helping you unpack the issues to understand what legal issues you have
  • legal advice
  • legal representation in your matter
  • support and advice about domestic and family violence
  • cultural support
  • connecting you to other supports

We are not mandatory reporters.

We are mob. We come from families just like yours and understand the barriers and trauma that can make it hard for First Nations women to engage with services and the legal system.

We respect your ability to look after yourself and your family – we are here as a professional support to you.
