About the role
The Social Worker provides case management support to women receiving legal assistance and experiencing family violence and other complex circumstances, as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Provide case management to clients experiencing challenges intersecting with their legal matter to support the progression of their legal matter
- Undertake risk assessments and safety planning with clients, informed by legal advice and prioritising safety and empowerment for clients
- Work collaboratively with the team and Centre’s other professionals to meet client needs and ensure services are integrated
Qualifications & experience
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Hold or eligible for Working with Vulnerable People registration (ACT). For further information please refer to Access Canberra

WLC is a community legal centre specialising in family law, migration, employment, discrimination and sexual harassment and sexual violence. WLC provides legal services within a multi-disciplinary, trauma informed practice model that incorporates social work, cultural support and collaborative flexible services to support women, trans and gender diverse people.

- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed and effective social work interventions to support clients’ resilience, well-being, and capacity.
- Ability to work collaboratively, independently and creatively in a multi-disciplinary practice to support the integration of legal and social work practice and improve outcomes for clients.
- Ability to support and promote diversity within the team to ensure the Centre can provide safe and responsive services to clients with diverse lived experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing women experiencing family and sexual violence and commitment to improving women’s safety and access to justice.
