The Women’s Legal Centre ACT First Nations Paralegal Program might be for you!

 

What is the job:

As the First Nations paralegal, you will work part time in the Centre’s Mulleun Mura Program, a specialist team delivering legal assistance to First Nations women in the ACT.

  • Being a warm point of contact for new and ongoing Mulleun Mura clients – helping women get the legal help they need.
  • Providing high quality legal secretarial support including file management, drafting documents and legal research

What are the details:

  • The position is available 10-20 hours per week for 12 months in the first instance.
  • The position is paid – $64-71K per annum (pro rata), depending on experience.
  • You will also have access to paid annual leave, sick leave, cultural leave and some study leave.
  • Additional unpaid study leave will be provided to support students at exam or assessment time.

 Who can apply:

  • Any Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander law student studying in Canberra.
  • You can be at any point in your studies and can be a full-time or part-time student.
  • You don’t need previous paralegal experience.

The Centre considers being an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under subsection 42(d) of the Discrimination Act 1991 (ACT).
